Bren Mar Park Elementary School is located minutes away from Overlook. The school is home to students who speak 39 different languages. Students there are enrolled in general, advanced, academic, special education and English for speakers of other Languages (ESOL) programs. As a Title I school, Bren Mar Park offers additional instructional resources to meet the individual needs of their students.
Edgar Allan Poe Middle School is located in nearby Annandale and serves as one of the three 6-8 grade middle schools in Fairfax County. The students there are offered skill development challenges that build carefully on how they can and do think during early adolescence. Each school day includes a teacher-adviser program, which advocates that every student be known by one or more adults at Poe. Students and teachers are also organized into teams in which the core subjects of English, Math, Science and Social Studies are taught. Edgar Allan Poe is a partnership with the Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreational Services for after school programs, which is a prominent feature at this middle school.
Annandale High School is located in the vicinity of Edgar Allan Poe Middle School and can be described as a school that has a diverse student body, that offers challenging courses and that has a superior activities program. The school offers a full range of athletic opportunities for both male and female students as well as excelling in the arts. The student newspaper at Annandale called A-Blast, has been named among the top five most well-known student newspapers in the United States. Annandale is supported by the Parent-Student-Teacher Association which supports parent involvement in the educational process, as well as the surrounding communities and local businesses and organizations.
